Karate is a high-risk undertaking. It can result in injuries, health issues and other risks that can injure, disable, or in rare cases even result in the death of those who practice it.
Before starting any sort of physical activity, especially unsupervised practice at home, make sure you are in a physical condition that will allow such activity without undue risk.
When in doubt, GET CLEARANCE FROM YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE BEGINNING ANY KARATE-RELATED ACTIVITY.
If you experience shortness of breath, chest, throat or arm pain, heart palpitations, blackouts, dizziness, or other issues, these may be symptoms of a serious medical condition, so STOP YOUR WORKOUT and
SEEK EMERGENCY MEDICAL TREATMENT IMMEDIATELY.
And of course, if you’re injured during or after practice, either don’t practice or restrict/adjust your activity accordingly until healed.
